Independence Day at the Alphabet Tower

As Georgia marks its Independence Day on May 26, the heart of Batumi will come alive with music, movement, and meaning — and there’s no better place to celebrate than beneath the iconic Alphabet Tower.

The Alphabet Tower, rising above the Batumi skyline, is more than a modern landmark — it’s a monument to Georgian language and identity. Its unique double helix design features the 33 letters of the Georgian alphabet, celebrating the richness of the written word. That's why on Independence Day, Batumi gathers at this distinctive structure — a symbol of identity, creativity, and continuity.

More Than a Celebration

Batumi on Independence Day is more than a celebration. It’s a living story being written in real time — by the artists, the dancers, the veterans, the children, and every visitor who joins in.

And just as the Alphabet Tower honours each character in Georgia’s alphabet, so too does this day honour the spirit of every Georgian — past, present, and future.

As Georgia continues to define its rightful place on the global stage — through peace, culture and innovation — May 26 is not just a look back, but a bold step forward. One letter, one chapter, and one step into the future.
